Birth Center Birth

We know homebirth isn’t for everyone. We’re excited to now offer birth center birth as an option for Nettle Wellness families.

If you love the idea of midwifery-led, personalized care but would prefer not to give birth at home, you can choose to have your baby at the Holistic Birth Center with your Nettle Wellness midwife.

Nettle Wellness is an independent midwifery practice. The Holistic Birth Center is simply the facility where your birth will take place. Your prenatal care, labor and birth care, and postpartum care are provided by the Nettle Wellness team.

the same care, a different place to birth

Your prenatal care remains with the Nettle Wellness midwives, just as it does for our homebirth families. We’ll get to know you throughout your pregnancy, talk through your options, monitor the health of you and your baby, and help you prepare for labor, birth, and the postpartum period.

When you go into labor, you’ll be in direct contact with your Nettle midwife. When it’s time to head to the birth center, your midwife will meet you there and remain with you throughout your labor and birth.

birth at the holistic birth center

births will take place at the at the Holistic Birth Center in Crown Heights.

The birth center offers a comfortable, intimate setting for families who want to give birth outside of a hospital but prefer not to birth at home.

Your birth will be attended by one of our Nettle Wellness midwives and one of our birth assistants. During labor, you’ll be supported in moving, changing positions, using comfort measures, and following your body’s natural rhythms. Your midwife will monitor you and your baby throughout labor and birth and provide the clinical care you need while supporting the birth experience you want.

postpartum care

Your postpartum care stays the same whether you give birth at home or at the birth center.

After your baby is born, our midwives will continue to care for you and your baby through the postpartum period. We’ll monitor your recovery and your baby’s transition, provide feeding and lactation support, and help you navigate the physical and emotional changes of new parenthood.

You’ll receive the same postpartum care and follow-up that we provide to our homebirth families.
